Happy Birthday, Baby!

Friday was Alyssa's first birthday. I cannot believe it's been a whole year since she was born.
We started the day doing some schoolwork. We usually take the day off for birthdays, but we're a little behind and she didn't know it was her birthday. LOL

We did school on the porch so we could watch 2 of the horses eat grass in the lawn (loose). The last time Alyssa was in the portacrib, she was 9 weeks old and we were on a camping trip. So, she thought hanging out in there with toys was fun. Susanna played in there with her, too. Even Jonah got into it for awhile. He finally got out because Alyssa was trying to help him with his math too much.

My MIL came for the day, which made it possible for me to work in the garden. We also worked on fencing and firewood. Hannah made a cake for Alyssa. She used the Pooh Bear cake pan that was used to make her cake for her first b-day. Here's the cake-although my camera made it look like Pooh's head is on fire from the 1 candle. Alyssa kept trying to grab the candle.

And, of course, she was more interested in the boxes, paper & ribbons than the presents! LOL
Yesterday Hannah had a horse show, but when we got there and got all set up, there were tornado warners & then we got torrential rain which turned the riding arena into a swamp. We surely didn't want Copper going around barrels and poles in that slop as he could hurt himself and get Hannah hurt as well.
We pulled out of the competition and as we were on the way home, we found out the whole show was cancelled. We got our entry fees back, so that's good.
