I'm so excited! Hannah wanted to take a Vet Science Curriculum, but I searched high & low and couldn't find one. She wants to be a veterinarian & the public schools around here offer a vet science class. So, I had her call our wonderful 4H equine director to ask her. This lady is an absolute gem...and she loves Hannah, which makes me love her even more. She is so great with the kids and always makes time for them. In fact, she makes them think that she has all the time in the world for them, when in fact she has a very busy schedule. But, she doesn't look at her schedule when she is helping out the 4H kids. She treats them like her own kids. Can you tell I really like her? lol
Anyway, she told Hannah she'd do a little research & get back to her. Three days later, she called to say she talked to a person who knew a person who could help. Turns out that person is Jonah's 4H leader. He is apparently a Cornell Lecturer (I didn't know this) and knowing how involved & dedicated Hannah is, he called the person directly in charge of the Vet Science Curriculum(worth 200 dollars) that the public schools use that was put together by Cornell College. This professor sent me the link to the entire curriculum (including all the teacher materials). For Free. It's 1800 pages. It takes up 3 large binders. My husband printed it all out for me and my daughter has been going through this curriculum like it's the best book she's ever read. LOL It is very well put together...and requires a lot of research (which she loves). This weekend she already completed the first unit...and loves it. One of her best friends, who is in public school, but hasn't taken the course yet, came over to check it out & she's been doing it with Hannah, too. The two of them are something else. They're also working on their 4H public presentations & a vet science project to submit at the county fair. Every winter they do this, along with hippology. Then they take the summers off for barrel racing & horse showing. :)
Anyway, I'm bowled over with gratitude for how the Lord provided this-it all just fell together. The other cool thing is that all of these Cornell people involved, told us if she runs into any problems, or has any questions, to please call & they'd be happy to help, plus they have 3 interns who specifically assist the schools with this curriculum who were also available to us.
They suggested that Hannah join FFA-that was the only snag. The Agr. Teacher at the school was all for Hannah joining his chapter, but the principal said they don't allow homeschoolers to participate in the school's extracurricular things. I thought this would happen, but the Cornell people didn't think FFA was actually through the school, but just held at the school. Oh well, it's ok-she's already busy enough. But, the agr. teacher was so kind-he offered his assistance, too, if we needed it.
I'm thinking this is a little step of faith-building because we have no idea how we're going to help Hannah get thru vet school if this is God's plan for her. But, if it's really God's plan for her, He'll prepare the way...it may not be easy-and vet school won't be easy either. So far, everything that has come across her path has pointed her in this direction & it's been her desire since age 6.
We'll wait...and see. :)
